5 star hotel living is making a comeback across the globe

Printer-Friendly Format

5 star hotel living is making a comeback across the globe, from Arizona to London, even the Ritz Carlton is getting into the game. With services like a spa, 24/7 dining and butler service, hotel companies are looking to attract affluent families who want the prime location and service, but without the sweat of owning and maintaining a private residence.

More over, the recent upswing in luxury hotel condos can be attributed to the decline in available luxury properties in the more cosmopolitan cities.

While the Ritz-Carlton has perhaps the most impressive list of locations, others in places like Las Vegas, London and New York are hoping that this new lifestyle will catch on. In the past three years New York alone has seen an explosion of luxury hotels converting rooms and suites into condominiums, and one NYC hotelier reports "the response has been overwhelming".

"Purchasers are showing they put value in being associated with these brand-named hotels", said Bjorn Hanson, a hospitality consultant.

5 star services, convenience of location and exclusivity seem to be more important than the hefty price tag of some of these properties. In New York alone these types of properties start at $7 million and can exceed $30.

The Residences is a condominium hotel enclave built on the MGM GRAND grounds in Las Vegas . Suites come with the pleasures of being an owner and a pampered hotel guest: from spa facilities to restaurants, and from the enormous casino to the Studio 54 night club.
